ABOUT US

The team is structured into two different commitment levels: Team and Club.

The team option will be more involved with a required minimum of one lesson a week and showing. The team level will require a placement ride/tryout at the beginning of the semester so you are placed in the riding level safest for you.

The club option will not include any mounted activities but you are more than welcome to attend socials, volunteer at the barn, and help at shows.

FAQ

HOW MANY SHOWS DO WE HAVE PER SEMESTER AND WILL I NEED TO GO TO ALL OF THEM?

We will have about 3-5 shows per semester. You will not show at every single one. Our trainers and president will curate a list before each show based on a members involvement with the team, their attitude while mounted and unmounted, and their schedule. It is encouraged to attend shows even if you are not showing as a way to cheer on and support our Seahawks!

CAN I BRING MY OWN HORSE?

Please reach out to one or both of our trainers, Carter and Taylor, to inquire about boarding at Honalee and open spaces. If you bring your own horse, you can expect your horse to become a part of the UNCW team and experience a wide range of riders. You are welcome to board at surrounding barns in the Wilmington area if you choose not to/are unable to board at Honalee Stables.

CAN I BRING MY OWN EQUIPMENT?

We will provide you with any and all gear you may need including a saddle, half pads, brushes, treats, crops, spurs, etc. You are more than welcome to bring anything you may own that you are comfortable using. There is no guaranteed saddle rack in our tack room, nor private locker so plan to travel with your gear accordingly. We will provide each team member with their own monogrammed saddle pad to be used in their lessons.
